4th-5th grade

Oregon Lands

In this unit, 4th and 5th-grade students explore Oregon’s rich natural and cultural landscape through hands-on learning and geographic inquiry. They’ll discover how maps can tell many stories depending on the lens we use—ecological, cultural, historical, or personal. Through the study of Oregon’s nine ecoregions and the history and present-day significance of tribal lands, students will gain insight into the state’s diverse environments and communities. They will also examine current population data related to Native Americans in Oregon and reflect on their own relationship to place through writing and art.
